QuickTime - fully-featured media player
Apple is one of the biggest IT companies in the world and its products are extremely popular, no matter if we are talking about hardware or software. On the software part, two of the most known programs developed by this company are the Safari web browser and the QuickTime media player. Designed initially for .MOV files, QuickTime is now a very robust and complete media player, offering support for a wide range of media formats.
Its installation wizard is as simple as the one of other Windows applications, requiring little time to complete and minimum effort from the user. After the program is installed and launched, a graphical interface will be displayed, which shows some up to the minute information regarding the most recent movies, music and iTunes apps. Using the portal launched inside the player, the user can view trailers of the latest movies and can preview new songs.
Adding media files to the interface can be done in a very simple way, by accessing the classical menu. QuickTime is compatible with a wide range of video, audio and graphical formats. In case one would like to view a movie inside the player, he can also add subtitles. Besides that, the size of the video window can be adjusted exactly how the user desires.
Using the options section of the program, the user can deeply customize every aspect of the program's functionality and can even change a bit the appearance of the player. Unfortunately, there isn't any support for skins or themes available.
Pros:
It supports a wide range of audio, video and graphical formats. Besides that, videos can have subtitles added to them. Furthermore, the size of the video playback window can be freely customized. Moreover, the options sections is comprehensive and allows thorough customization of the player's functionality.
Cons:
Some of the functions and features included in the program's menu can only be unlocked after buying the PRO version.
QuickTime is a fully-featured media player which offers support for numerous file formats, while offering a simple and accessible interface.
